Herald Angel

I didn't really have time to make too many Christmas cards this year. This has only been the second year that I have made Christmas cards. I think I need to start my Christmas cards in the summer. I have little to no time in December. It isn't just my personal stuff that I do for Christmas... it's everything else. I also have my kids school stuff and my own class stuff. Crazy. I know there are so many of you out there that are in the same situation.

Anyway, I was able to make only about 10 of the following card. It didn't really take that long to make - it's just that I didn't have the time to sit.The card base is SU Riding Hood Red. The background DP is SU Very Vanilla stamped one of the snowflakes from SU Snow Swirled with SU Riding Hood Red ink. The other DP is from the DCWV Holiday Collection Stack. The image is High Hopes Herald Angel. It was embossed on watercolor paper that I cut with my Cricut with a Shaplie file from Penny Duncan Creations. I colored it with Twinkling H2Os. The matte is is SU Soft Suede. The charm is from Stamp and Create. The ribbon is from the Dollar Tree.
The following is the side view: The next card has the same HH Angel with a few different elements: The base is PTI Kraft Cardstock. The DP is DCWV Holiday Collection Stack. The ribbon is from Michaels. The flowers are primas. The brads are from my stash. The matte is SU Riding Hood Red.
The next pic is the side view: Thanks for hanging out with me!

Snow Swirled

This is another one of the cards I made last year. It was so easy to make! I easily made a whole bunch of these.
The card base is Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy. I stamped the background with one of the snowflake stamps from SU Snow Swirled. The silver matte is also from Papertrey Ink. I stamped the tree from Snow Swirled with versa mark and embossed with silver embossing powder. For the jewels - the ones in the this picture happen to come from Joanns, but I had started using Taylor's Tiny Twinkles from Taylored Expressions. I ran out of the red twinkles and ended up going to Joanns to buy some others. The ribbon is beautiful but I don't know what store it came from. I bought it off my neighbor who used to have a flower shop and she got it from the warehouse where she used to get her flowers. I wish they sold those rolls of ribbon that I bought from her at the stores. The rolls are huge!
Anyway, here is a side view:
This next one - I ran the card through the Cuttlebug with the Snowflake Embossing Folder. The tree charm from above and the snowflake charm are from Stamp and Create. The ribbon also came from my neighbor.

Thanks for hanging out with me!

Snowman

This is one of the Christmas cards that I have made...this one was one I did last year and never got around to posting. I actually had one left over and sent it out this year to a friend

The card base is SU Whisper White. The DP is DCWV Holiday Collection Paper Stack. The stamps are Studio G dollar stamps from Joanns. The ribbon is from the Dollar Tree. The glitter around the snowman is from Joanns too. The following is a side view:
The next picture is basically the same layout except I added some white brads from Taylored Expressions and a snowflake charm from Stamp and Create.
I will post some more Christmas cards soon!
Thanks for hanging out with me!

Angel Anya Thank Yous

My 12yr son recently had surgery. He had to have his ACL reconstructed due to a football injury. Its a big surgery for such a young kid. They had to take two of his hamstrings and make a whole new ligament. The surgeon and the hospital staff were great.
Well, I have these wonderful women at my job who apparently saw the look of stress in my eyes. I don't like to complain or ask for help. Apparently I think I am superwoman. My lovely friend Amy got a list going to bring my food the Thursday of my son's surgery, as well as Friday, Saturday AND Sunday. It was awesome not to have to think of what I was going to make for the rest of my family - but it was even more "awesomer" (is that a word?) to know that I have a wonderful group of women who are so selfless and giving. If you are in the Jacksonville, FL area and happen upon Argyle Christian Preschool and Kindergarten at The Church at Argyle... let these women know that they are AMAZING!
Anyway - here are two of the thank you cards I made them:

This is The Greeting Farm's Angel Anya. She is so cute. She was embossed on watercolor paper which was cut out using my Cricut with a PDC 10 Scallop Shaplie Mat. I colored her using Twinkling H2Os. I used stickles on her halo and wings. The base is SU Close to Cocoa. The DP is SU Loves Me. The other CS is Taken with Teal. The ribbon was from the $Spot at Target. The Charm is from Stamp and Create.

Here is the side view so you can see the embossing and the stickles. The next cared is the same layout, except I colored Angel Anya's dress in turquoise.

And the side view...

I have a bunch more I will post later! Thanks for hanging out with me!

Blues and Greens

Our Creative Corner has a new challenge to use Blues and Greens. I really like that color combination, especially since green is my favorite color. You can never use enough green. :-)
This is a perfect card for a boy.

Card Details: The card base is SU Brilliant Blue. The card sketch is an old one #145 from CPS. I cut the star with my cricut from some paper I had in my stash. The stamp is SU Pun Fun and is embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os. The DP is DCWV All About Boys stack. You can't tell from the pic but the squares on that paper are shiny.

Thanks for hanging out with me!

Charms

I think charms just add that extra little element to cards. I don't see them too often anymore though. The challenge this month over at the Stamp and Create blog is to use charms. I made this card for a friend of mine's daughter who had just had her ballet recital and then had her birthday party. This stamp was perfect for her.

Card Details: The stamp is called Tiny Dancer from Wags and Whiskers. It was embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os. The card base is PTI Aqua mist. The DP and the dark pink papers are from my stash. The light pink paper is SU Pretty in Pink. The ribbon is one that I got from my neighbor. It is white but it looks like pink in the picture. The flowers are Primas. The flower spacers and charm are from Stamp and Create. The brads are from my stash.

Thanks for hanging out with me!

Graduation

The end of the year - so many events... Graduation being one of them. One of the young ladies from my church just graduated highschool...she is amazing. A brilliant, brilliant girl! She graduated Summa Cum Laude and is going to college on some fabulous scholarships. Anyway, I made this card for her. It will be complete with an Amazon Gift Card (she received a Kindle as her one of her Grad gifts.)
I used the sketch from CPS 172. I really liked this sketch. I am a very "clean and simple" card person. Don't get me wrong... I really love all the cards out in "Cardland" that are so creative and full of embellishments and eye candy... I admire all those artists out there whose blogs I stalk daily. ;-) For me though, I am simple in my card designs. I actually get scared when I add too much. LOL! Do any of you feel that way?

Card Details: Card base is SU Basic Black. The blue is SU Brilliant Blue. I ran it though my Cuttlebug with the PTI Linen & Canvas Impression Plate. The yellow is SU So Saffron I stamped with a Studio G diploma stamp I got for a dollar at Joann's. The mortar board is also a Studio G stamp. The arrow was cut from PTI Silver Cardstock and stamped with another Studio G stamp. (A collection of 3 different Studio G sets.)

Thanks for hanging out with me!

Froggy Gift

It has been forever since I posted. How life gets in the way.... I have been busy crafting though - just haven't had a chance to post any of my projects. Here is one that I can post though - High Hopes Challenge #81 Anything Goes! I can do that!

I love this stamp. I have two boys and they are the true definition of "boy"! This stamp reminds me of the time that we had an invasion of tiny frogs in our patio. My boys (especially my youngest) decided that they needed to pick up every single one of them and put them in their bug habitat. I do not exaggerate when I say that there were over 50 tiny frogs. I love my boys!

Card Details: The stamp I used is High Hopes Froggy Gift which was embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os. The card is base is SU Kiwi Kiss. The other solid colors are SU Certainly Celery and Riding Hood Red. The DP is an old paper set I had from Paper Wishes. I am not sure if it is available anymore because I have had it forever!. The ballcap charm is from Stamp and Create. The ribbon is from the Dollar Tree.

I will probably mention the Dollar Tree alot in my posts. It's my favorite store and you would be amazed how many crafting items you get there. I bought a bunch of ribbon a few weeks ago. Love it!

Thanks for hangin out for a little while! Adios!

Feliz Cumpleanos

I have been busy. Extremely busy. Seriously. Busy. I am sure, though, that so many of you out there can say the same thing. Teacher's appreciation that just passed...Kindergarten graduation for my class...end of the year projects for my boys...end of the year projects for teachers...Scrapbooks for all the kids in my class... blah blah blah blah blah... etc... :-)
Now, I have added card making to my list - and after making those few handmade cards - now that is what is expected and my OCD has to live up to that expectation. I'm not complaining...I'm just saying! Hahahahaha!
On to my card -
This card is for my father in law in New York. Of course, I could've sent him a store bought card, but now my husband requests handmade stuff! So this is what I came up with. I didn't like it at first. I know a few ways I could've made it better. Do you all feel that way? It's been sent though...so too late!
Details: The card base is SU Baja Breeze. The DP is SU Muirfield. The stamp is from SU Thoughts and Prayers. I colored the tree with Old Olive and Chocolate Chip SU onto SU Whisper White backed on SU Kiwi Kiss. The Feliz Cumpleanos stamp is SU Felicidades Siempre. The netting is Champange Net you can get from Stamp and Create. The buttons are from my stash.
I am entering this in Our Creative Corner Challenge - Masculine Birthday. Also in the Cute Card Thursday Challenge 112 - Someone Special because my father in law is a pretty special guy!
Thanks for looking!

Happy Girl

I made this card during the week of this sketch challenge by Cute Card Thursday. I just never got around to cropping and posting it. It just so happens though, that it works perfectly for Stamp and Create's first challenge - Use ribbon. I certainly did. Lacey - the owner of stamp and create - introduced me to the world of stamping. She is awesome and so is her family! Go check out her blog!

This is a very simple card. The card base is PTI Lemon Tart. I used a stamp from The Greeting Farm set Happy Day. It was embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os. I added stickles on the stars on her belt, necklace, and boots. This card was for my friend's daughter's birthday. This is totally an outfit that she would wear! The DP is from DCWV Flower Shower Stack. The brads and ribbon are from my stash.

I added a strip of paper on the top of the inside of the card for a gift card and just put little strips on the bottom. The blurry part is what I had written. I seem to be not very good at taking pics BEFORE I write in them. :-)

My Favorite Color

My boys and my kindergarteners will be able to tell you that my favorite color is green. Even as a little girl my favorite color was always green. Nothing in my house, though, is green. I have red walls. Brick red. Not all the walls. The contrasting walls are a light brown. So as an adult, I now have a new favorite color in addition to green... I never thought about it until the challenge on the Raise the Bar blog - Challenge #15 Color Me Happy - use your favorite color on a card.

I like this Vivienne stamp by Kraftin' Kimmie. She is so sassy. I used this stamp on a previous post. So I was able to fit both of my favorite colors on this card. At first I didn't know if I liked it, but I really did after I colored her and added the flowers. (The flowers were added for Our Creative Corner challenge blog - which is to use blossoms. I would've used red half pearls with the green but I didn't have any.

The base is SU Riding Hood Red. The DP is from DCWV Mariposa Stack. I cut the shape with my cricut using a nesting template from Penny Duncan Creations. The flowers are primas. Vivienne was embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os. The spacers and half pearls are from Stamp and Create. The brad is from my stash.

The next picture is the inside:

The butterfly is cut from the same DP and I added some stickles. (The blur is what I wrote. It is a birthday card for my friend in Washington.)

My Favorite Angel

One of my favorite stamps happens to be a Wags and Whiskers stamp called Angel Whispers. Not just because the little Angel represented in this stamp was in my very first Kindergarten class. Not just because my friend Lacey happens to co-own Wags and Whiskers. Not just because Lacey is the little angel's mother. Not just because Lacey was the wicked person to introduce me to this addiction called stamping.

I am laughing laughing laughing!!!!!!! Hugs to Lacey, Ansley and Ryan (who also happens to be represented in my favorite Superhero stamp)!

I just really like the stamp because it just looks really sweet. I really like how the little angel is just there peacefully with her sweet dog (who also happens to look like a dog I had when I was younger) and beautiful butterflies.

I made this card for my son's teacher's birthday. It was put together very quickly. I had already colored Angel Whispers a while ago but never did anything with her. She was embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2O's and backed on SU Bashful Blue. The card base is SU Regal Rose. The DP, brad and ribbon are from my stash. Flowers are primas. I also added stickles to the wings of the angel and butterflies.

I am also entering this card in the Flutter By Wednesday #105 Challenge which is open but you have to have a butterfly, angel or fairy.

I also made the following box to go along with the card. It is from My Time Made Easy. It is called Shutterfly. It's an SVG file that you can cut with your Cricut. I made the box big enough to fit 6 Yankee Candle votives. The flower and butterfly on the front were made with with the Cut file Flutters and Flowers. The cricut is awesome!

The next picture is the top of the box.

Vivienne

I can't believe how awesome this world of card creating is. I have stumbled upon some really cool blogs of some really awesome talented people. It's addicting! I haven't figured out if it's a good thing or a bad thing. I have found myself browsing through blogs and being completely surprised by an hour passing easily.

Anyway, I stumbled upon the blog Stamping by Sam. She is so creative. I can't believe how many challenges she does with just one card. Crazy! I clicked on a few challenge links of hers and came across All Sorts Challenge Blog and 365 Cards (which had a link to Practical Scrappers).

The All Sorts Challenge 47 is using "Petals and Pearls". The Practical Scrappers Challenge is using "Glitter and Bling". I fulfilled both challenges without even knowing it! Awesome when things work out that way!

The stamp on this card is Vivienne from Kraftin' Kimmie which I bought at Stamp and Create. I think she is so cute! I made this card for my friend's birthday. I made another one with Vivienne which I will post another day.

Vivienne is embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os. I cut the shapes out with my Cricut. It is a nesting file I got from Penny Duncan Creations. The card base is SU Basic Black. The pink cardstock is PTI Raspberry Fizz stamped with a flower from SU Merci Stamp set. The DP is from DCWV Flower Shower Spring Stack. I really like the DP. It comes with the glitter already on it. The flowers are Prima. The black brads on the flower I bought a long time ago from Taylored Expressions. The spacers on the flower and the half pearls I bought from Stamp and Create.

Composition Books

I am a paper addict. Seriously. I have a fascination with scrapbook paper... and I shouldn't because I really don't have any more room for any more stinking paper. LOL! So, I went to Joann's and they had the DCWV paper stacks on sale... and my friend's daughter had a birthday...inspiration!

I am going to enter this in the Wags and Whiskers Challenge "Pop it up". I didn't really want to use dimensionals on this since it will be used to write in so I added a flower. I hope that counts as a pop up. I also added small little "pops" on the back... read on.

I really like composition books. They are easy to cover, look really cool and are easy to personalize. I had bought small composition books at Target during the after school sale. They came in a little package 2 for $0.50. Of course, I bought a whole bunch. :-) I used some paper from DCWV Flower Shower Spring Stack. Really cute glittery paper.

The Stamp is Wags and Whiskers Happy Day colored in Twinkling H2Os. So cute! I kind of freehand measured everything and added a ribbon I found from the dollar spot at Target to hold the pen. I put some of the same DP in the inside of the RSVP pen. Easy! The following is the back:

I cut my friends' daughter's name with my Cricut and added Taylor's Tiny Twinkles to the name.

The next one is the basically the same concept except I used the stamp Bedtime Story from Wags and Whiskers.

Of course, my son Gabriel (who is 9) is fascinated with any art projects. He's always painting, coloring, etc. He is dying to use my Twinkling H2Os... not sure if I'm ready for that yet. Anyway, he saw me making the composition books and wanted me to make one for him.

I used the High Hopes stamp Time Well Spent. He really likes this stamp because he says it looks like him and our chocolate lab fishing in the backyard. He wanted me to paint them with the Twinkling H2Os.
He wanted to write his own name on the back. OK. What could I say?
Anyway, thanks so much for looking!

My Hunny Bunny

I call my husband Hunny Bunny. Or Honey Bunches of Oats. There is a story to each of those names and reasons which are quite funny but that's for another day.... :-)

Anyway, he had a birthday and I have been waiting a long time to use this stamp from High Hopes. It's called Bunny Love. I thought is was perfect. He really liked it too. I wish the pic was better but it was a dark stormy day outside so the natural lighting was not too bright.

I am entering it in the Cute Card Thursday Challenge 103. They are celebrating their 2nd anniversary and their theme is to celebrate! Katharina Frei is also giving away a cool prize. Check it out here.

I used an old sketch from Taylored Expressions (TECC48). The card base is PTI Kraft. The image was embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os. I used Cotton Ball White Fun Flock on their bellies and tails. You can't really tell in the pic though. It feels really cool though - Fuzzy! :-) The Birthday Sentiment was printed on SU Very Vanilla. The button is SU. The DP is SU Parisian Breeze.

Thanks for looking!

Bedtime Bear

I really need to learn how to use my camera. I have a Canon Rebel XSi. I am not a photographer. I usually use the manual settings. I take some really decent outdoor pics but I need to learn how to take some really good indoor pics and use the SLR settings. However you call it... I don't know photography lingo. I am wanting to take a photography class this summer...research, research...
Anyway, onto the card...
I am entering this one into the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #102 and the High Hopes Challenge 65 - Orange Brown plus circle.

Okay - I just have to say that I really like the polka dot glitter DP from DCWV Animal Stack. I am not happy that there were only two sheets of it. This paper is awesome. I have to share a Sketch Pad that I made using Kristina Werner's tutorial another day.... yes, using the same polka dot DP. :-)
The card base is PTI Summer Sunrise. The blue (SU Bashful Blue) was embossed with my Cuttlebug. I turned the TE Sketch on its side so that it would work with the big image. The stamp is High Hopes Bedtime Bear embossed on Watercolor Paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os. The spacer and star charm are from Stamp and Create.

Angel Whispers

My neighbor's daughter's birthday party was on Saturday. I had already made her son a card last month which I'll post another day. I just wanted to share this card. This is Angel Whispers from Wags and Whiskers. You can read about these awesome stamps at Lacey's blog.

The image was embossed on watercolor paper (thanks Lacey) and painted with Twinkling H2Os. The card base is SU Pretty in Pink. The DP is DCWV Animal Stack. I really like this stack of papers. Some of it has cute pages with animals but there are some really neat glittery pages. The ribbon and brad is from my stash. The spacer and charm are from Stamp and Create. The flowers are Got Flowers? from Paper Wishes. I also added Stickles to the angel wings and the butterfly wings.
My neighbor's daughter said it was better than her brother's card. She's cute!

High Hopes Challenge #64

I can play on a High Hopes Challenge! The challenge is to add texture and make it touchy feely.

This is Willy One Eye. I made about 80 of this guy for my boys' Valentine cards. I made a few extra embossed on Whisper White so I can make random cards. This one is in an envelope and will be sent to my friend on Monday. I thought it would give her a smile. Willy is so cute!

I guess the texture here would be the embossing, the ribbon and the buttons. Plus I roughed up the edges of the image. Willy was colored with Twinkling H2Os. He is backed on SU Certainly Celery and the base is PTI Plum Pudding. The can't remember were the ribbon, buttons and DP are from. Just random items I've had for years and I am now actually using.

Thanks for looking!

Valentine Cards

I know that Valentine's Day is over...but seeeing as this is my first "picture" post - I am testing it out on some projects that I recently finished. This is Willie One Eye from High Hopes purchased from Stamp and Create. I made these as Valentine cards for my boys for their class and teachers. I love these new High Hopes stamps from Dustin. I have two boys so these "manly" stamps are right up my alley.

On the back I just printed "Happy Valentine's Day! From: (Insert Name)". I embossed Willie on SU Baja Breeze and Certainly Celery. The eye, tongue and spots were colored with Twinkling H2O's.

My First Post!

Okay - this is my very first post/blog. This will definitely be a learning experience for me. Patience is a virtue! Amen!
This definitely won't be an everyday blog. I don't have the attention span, the time, or the cleverness to make this an everyday thing.
Thank you to those who happen upon this little experiment and take the time to read and look. I am definitely new to the blogging and card making world. I will give credit where I can to those who inspire me.
Thanks!
